Orphaned Baby Squirrel Stuck Up Tree Saved by Volunteer Rescuer

A volunteer animal rescuer in Ohio shared video of what he described as a “very rewarding experience” after saving an orphaned baby squirrel stranded in its nest and carrying it down to safety.
Duane Hook, a climbing instructor who says he’s been rescuing cats “free of charge since 2010,” said he was volunteering for the Ohio Wildlife Center in April 2024 when he was asked to help save a baby American red squirrel from a tree in Pataskala, Ohio.
Video posted on Hook’s @getmeowttahere TikTok account, where he shares videos of animal rescues with more than 500,000 followers, shows Hook gently coaxing the nervous baby squirrel out of its nest and into his hands.
“It is very gratifying to help native wildlife with such a great team of volunteers,” Hook wrote in a video caption. Credit: @getmeowttahere via Storyful
